Great British Chemicals (GBC) represents a major investment by UKRI to support British Industries R&D capabilities through the acceleration of academic discoveries to scale. This is exemplified by the “Quadruple Helix” approach of close collaboration between Industry, Academics and Policy Makers, brought together with the cohesive interaction and support of the Finance Sector. However, GBC cannot work in isolation and so we will work closely with other centre, hubs and networks to create a cooperative environment with considerable added value across the chemicals supply chain.
We are already working with the Henry Royce Institute, The Sustainable Chemicals & Materials Manufacturing Hub (Schema) and Ignite Steel to create such an important ecosystem. This web of partnerships will continue to grow as the GBC Centre of Excellence evolves.
