Members of the GBC team recently attended CHEMUK 2026, the UK’s annual expo for the chemical, process engineering, and formulated product sectors, hosted at the NEC in Birmingham. Tom Franklin, Peter Styring & Mike George provided leadership team representation along with PDRA representation from Umair Jamal.
Bringing together thousands of industry professionals, 600+ specialist suppliers, and over 100 expert speakers, the two-day event was an incredible hub for learning about the latest laboratory innovations and collaboration opportunities.
Our team thoroughly enjoyed exploring the event’s five focused show zones – ranging from the Chemical Laboratory and Chemicals Supply zones to Process Engineering and Chemicals Management. CHEMUK provided GBC with an excellent platform to understand the latest manufacturing technologies, view live product demos, and dive into critical panel discussions around green chemistry, policy & regulations, and industrial decarbonisation.
An important highlight of the event was networking. We had a fantastic time reconnecting with our long-standing collaborators and establishing exciting new connections across the ecosystem. The valuable insights and emerging trends we gathered will fuel our direction and strengthen our commitment to defossilising the chemical and chemical-using industries.
We were also involved in the schedule of talks. On Day 1, Peter joined a Panel Discussion hosted by the Henry Royce Institute, titled UK Chemicals – Reaction, Reinvention and Resilience. Peter stressed the importance of resilience along the entire supply chain and promoted the work of GBC in this regard.
On Day 2, Peter and Tom delivered a keynote presentation, providing an overview of GBC, our key mission and opportunities to collaborate. It was a well-attended talk which provided plenty of further discussion afterwards.
